The big mistake business owners make with their podcast

The big mistake business owners make with their podcast

Why I’m refocusing my podcast to better support business owners

If you’re a business owner with a podcast, or one that’s currently on pause, this might resonate with you.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been reassessing the direction of my own podcast, Podcasting for Business Owners. And through that process, I’ve gained clarity not just on my show, but on how I want to support my clients moving forward.

Here’s what I’ve realised, and how it might help you too.

Launching vs managing a podcast: two different stages, two different needs

When I first launched Podcasting for Business Owners, I had a clear(ish) niche in mind. I wanted to support business owners who were either launching or managing their show. People who wanted to share their story, grow their visibility, and lead in their space.

But over time, I realised that lumping those two stages together made things feel a bit… fuzzy.

Launching a podcast and keeping one going are two totally different journeys. And the support you need in those stages is also completely different.

Trying to speak to both groups in one podcast made the message unclear for me, and for my listeners.

The new focus: helping podcasters realign and move forward

What I’m most passionate about is helping business owners who already have a podcast, but feel like it’s not quite working for them.

Maybe you’ve:

  • Paused your show and don’t know if or how to bring it back
  • Been publishing, but things feel off or disconnected
  • Wondered if your podcast is even worth continuing
  • Felt overwhelmed by the ongoing time and tech

Sound familiar?

That’s where I come in. I help you:

  • Align your podcast with your business goals
  • Create a sustainable strategy that supports growth
  • Take the time-consuming tasks off your plate — editing, show notes, scheduling, and more

This is the kind of work I love. It’s practical, purposeful, and leads to real results.

And it’s exactly where I’m taking my podcast and my services next.

Your podcast should work for your business, not the other way around

I believe that your podcast should feel like a business tool, not another thing on your to-do list.

It should

  • Bring in leads.
  • Start conversations.
  • Help your audience binge your brilliance.
  • Position you as a trusted expert, not just a content creator.

If your podcast isn’t doing that right now, that’s a sign something needs to change. And I can help you figure out what that is.

Need a fresh perspective? I offer podcast audits that give you real insight into what’s working, what’s not, and what to change.

What would you love me to cover?

As I start the new season of Podcasting for Business Owners, I want to make sure it’s genuinely helpful for those of you who are already podcasting, or ready to return after a break.

So I’d love to know:

  • Does this new direction feel helpful to you?
  • What topics would you love to hear covered when the podcast returns?

Pop a comment below or contact me here. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for being part of the journey.
