What should my podcast be about?

Before you start your podcast, you should decide what will be the overall theme for your show.  

If you have a business, and you’re using your podcast to promote your business, then it makes sense to create a podcast based on what you do in your business.

If you’re a Coach or Consultant, whatever it is you do to help your clients, this should be what your podcast is about. This way your listeners can get a taste of what you do and will want to know more.

Why you should launch your podcast with a trailer

When starting a new podcast I always recommend that you launch with a trailer before your episodes.

When you launch a podcast, it needs to be submitted to all the major podcast directories, Spotify, Google, Apple etc. Some of these directories can take 7 days to approve your podcast.

By uploading your trailer before your episodes, you’re giving yourself time to make sure everything’s set up correctly BEFORE the official launch of your episodes. You don’t want to launch with an episode, and then find out there’s a problem.

Ways to market your podcast

You’re here because you’re wondering how to market your podcast. Maybe you’re new to podcasting, or you may have a podcast already and you’re wondering how to attract new listeners.

Before you launch your podcast, it’s important that you truly understand your audience. Is your podcast valuable and unique? If it’s not either of these, you may struggle to grow your podcast audience, no matter how much marketing you do.

Also, bear in mind that it can take 5-6 months for your listenership to start increasing. It’s normal to have little engagement at the beginning, so try not to feel too discouraged.
